Free English speaking test, with a certificate.

Three questions, out loud. A score out of 100, your level, and a certificate anyone can verify. Add it to LinkedIn or your CV.

  • Scored on structure, clarity, pace and presence
  • Verifiable link and QR code on every certificate
  • No download, works on your phone

What the test covers.

  1. Part 1

    Introduce yourself

Talking about yourself clearly. For example: “Tell me about yourself.”

  2. Part 2

    Answer an interview question

Structure under pressure. For example: “Why should we hire you?”

  3. Part 3

    Explain or persuade

Explaining and persuading. For example: “Explain your job to a five-year-old.”

The five levels.

  • 0–44

    Foundation

You can get your point across with effort. Short, structured answers will move you up fastest.

  • 45–59

    Developing

You're understood, but answers wander and fillers creep in under pressure.

  • 60–71

    Competent

Clear and understandable. Leading with your point will make you sound more confident.

  • 72–84

    Proficient

Structured, clear and steady. You'd hold your own in an interview or a client call.

  • 85–100

    Advanced

Clear, persuasive and assured, even on questions you didn't see coming.

Questions.

  • Is the English speaking test really free?

Yes, the test and the certificate are free. You can take it once every 7 days; SpeakingLab Pro members can retake it every day.

  • How is the speaking test scored?

Each of your three answers is transcribed and scored from 1 to 5 on structure, clarity, pace and pauses, and presence, with filler words and speaking speed measured from the audio. The average becomes a score out of 100 and a level from Foundation to Advanced.

  • Can employers check my certificate?

Yes. Every certificate has its own link and QR code that opens the result on speakinglab.online, with the date and certificate ID.

  • Is this the same as IELTS, TOEFL or PTE?

No. It is SpeakingLab's own test of how clearly you speak under pressure, the way interviews and meetings feel. It does not replace an official language exam and is not mapped to IELTS, TOEFL or CEFR bands.

  • What do I need?

A phone or laptop with a microphone, a quiet place, and about five minutes. Nothing to download. Your audio is deleted right after scoring.
