What’s your speaking rating?

A number that shows how well you speak under pressure, like a chess rating. Everyone starts at 1200. Each rated answer is a game against the question: answer well and your rating goes up, answer poorly and it goes down.

Your answer is transcribed, then scored from 1 to 5 on structure, clarity, pace and pauses, and presence. Filler words and speaking speed are measured from the audio. Your audio is deleted right after scoring.

It uses the Elo formula. Every question has a difficulty rating. If your score beats what's expected for your rating against that question, you gain points; if not, you lose some. Harder questions cost less to miss and pay more to answer well.

So ratings are fair. The question is picked at random, it counts once you see it, and if you leave a rated question unanswered for 20 minutes it counts as the lowest score. To practise a question of your choice, use unrated practice.
